Applications on the RemoteApps server handle all processing and file system interactions directly on the server. As a result of this file system dialog windows, which are used for selecting files and folders, display server based user profile folders for common storage location by default. These folders use the same common folder names (Desktop, Documents, etc.) as those used locally on a workstation or laptop computer. This guide explains how to easily access folders and files stored on your local workstation or laptop computer while working within RemoteApps applications.

  1. Trigger a file system dialog (Open File, Save File, Attach, etc.) in whichever RemoteApps application (Sage 300, TimberScan, Sage FAS) you commonly use. The dialog will launch and will display storage folders within your server-based user profile by default.

  2. Expand the This PC node on the navigation tree within the left hand navigation frame of the dialog window. A list of storage locations will be displayed.

  3. Find and expand the node on the navigation tree which is named C on C####. This node represents the local workstation or laptop (your computer) and the exact name will vary based on the host name of the local computer. The laptop used in the example image is named "ARB-X1".

  4. Expand the Users node displayed under the node selected in the previous step. A list of user profiles stored on the local computer will be displayed. Click on the user profile which matches your user name. The username used in the example image is named "zlandmark".

  5. The contents of your local profile will be displayed in the folder contents frame of the dialog window. You may double click any folder to further navigate the folder structure.

  6. You may drag any folder unto the Favorites node in the top left-hand corner of the dialog window to create a saved Favorite link to the folder. Doing this will allow you to quickly access the folder in the future.
