Several of Landmark's core computer systems leverage shared identity account (username and password) for ease of use. The username tied to this account is typically entered and displayed in email format (username@teamlandmark.com) although certain systems require it to be entered in "landmark\username" format. The same password is used regardless of format.


The password associated with your Landmark expires and must be changed every 90 days. 


Landmark's account system will notify you to change your password five (5) days, and again two (2) days before it expires. The system will send a final notice if you fail to change your password before it expires. 


Password Guidelines

  • Passwords must be a minimum of 8 characters in length and contain at least one upper character, lower character, numeric character, special character.
  • Passwords must be changed after 90 days.
  • Passwords should not be a simple mix of a common word with a number.
  • Passwords should not contain personal information and dates. Family names, university names/mascots, pet names, and birth dates are all poor choices. If it can be found on social media, it is not fit for a password.
  • Do not use the same password you use for other systems or personal email accounts / services. If It is best practice to use a different password for different things.
  • Passwords do not need to be actual words. It may be simpler for you to create a common phrase consisting of multiple words.



How to change your password after it has expired...

  1. Connect to the internet.

  2. Open your web browser and navigate to this address: https://mail.teamlandmark.com/owa/auth/expiredpassword.aspx

  3. Enter your username in "landmark\username" format, old password, new password. and confirm the new password. A username is typically the front portion of your email address, before the @ symbol.

  4. Click the Submit button save your new password.

  5. It may take 30 minutes before the new password is accepted in VPN, Livelink or Email (Outlook, Webmail, Mobile Devices). This would be an appropriate time to reflect on your procrastination.

  6. The following steps should also be completed if you are actively logged into a Landmark issued computer.

    • Once prompted for the new password in Microsoft Outlook, connect to the VPN enter your new password when prompted.

    • Press the CTRL+ALT+DELETE keys on your keyboard and choose the Lock option.

    • Use your new password to unlock the computer.

    • Your new password has now cached on your computer. The new password should be used when logging into your computer, the VPN, Livelink, or email. You will be prompted to enter the new password when required.



How to change your password before it expires...

  1. Connect to the Landmark network
    • If you are working from a Landmark office and are already connected to the network, move on to step 2
      .
    • If working from outside of a Landmark office, connect to the VPN before doing anything else.

  2. Press the CTRL + ALT + DELETE keys on your keyboard and choose the Change Password option when prompted.

  3. Follow the prompts to change your password.

  4. Press the CTRL + ALT + DELETE keys on your keyboard and choose the Lock option.

  5. Use your new password to unlock the computer.

  6. Your password has now been changed. The new password should be used when logging into your computer, the VPN, Livelink, or email. 
    • It may take 30 minutes before the new password is accepted in Livelink or Email (Outlook, Webmail, Mobile Devices). You will be prompted to enter the new password when required.
