BACKGROUND
The latest versions of the Camera App running on Apple iOS uses a new high efficiency image format for photos and videos. The Camera app in iOS is also capable of saving images as in a mini-movie format, known as Live view, which captures several seconds before and after the image is taken. Images in this format commonly use the HEIC file extension.

These newer formats are not currently compatible for saving into some systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and the Procore Photos tool / module, and should be disabled for compatibility.

CONFIGURE IPHONE CAMERA SETTINGS

The following steps may be sued to configure your iOS Camera App to save images and video in classic formats including JPEG/JPG.

  1. Open the Settings app in iOS.

  2. Navigate to and tap on the Camera app in the list of applications. The Camera Settings will open.

  3. Tap on the Formats item.

  4. Tap on the Most Compatible item to select the configuration setting. A checkmark will appear next to this option indicating it is the active setting.

  5. Tap on Camera in the top left to return to the Camera Settings and then tap on the Preserve Settings item.

  6. Set the Live Photos option to enabled. This will ensure the most recent setting is retained as the default and will prevent the Camera app from automatically enabling this feature every time the app is launched.

  7. Exit the Settings app and launch the Camera app.

  8. Tap the Live Photos button to turn off Live Photos. A slash through the Live Photos button means that the feature is off.
