There are several methods which may be used to save file attachments from Outlook to OneDrive on an iPhone or iPad. This article outlines the three simplest and most common methods. This article is focused on the steps required to complete this process on an iPad, although the same steps may be followed on an iPhone.



Saving the attachment to OneDrive using the Save to Account option within Outlook


  1. Open the Outlook app and select the file to be saved. The file will open in a file viewer. 
    Note: This is only a viewer. No changes may be made to the file at this step.




  2. Tap on the Share button in the top right corner of the screen. 




  3. Tap on the Save to Account item, and then tap on your OneDrive account.






  4. The file will be saved in the Attachments folder in the OneDrive app. 




  5. The file is available for use in the OneDrive or Microsoft365 apps.






Saving the attachment to OneDrive using the Save to Files option within Outlook


  1. Open the Outlook app and select the file to be saved. The file will open in a file viewer. 
    Note: This is only a viewer. No changes may be made to the file at this step.




  2. Tap on the Share button in the top right corner of the screen. 




  3. Tap on Save to Files in the selection menu.




  4. Tap on the OneDrive item in the Locations menu on the left side of the window, and then tap on the Files folder to open your personal OneDrive files.




  5. Navigate to the folder you which to save the file to and then tap the Save icon at the top of the window. You may also tap on the New Folder icon to create a new folder.




  6. The file will be saved in the folder you specified and is available for use in the OneDrive or Microsoft365 apps.





Saving an attachment to OneDrive using the Send To ... OneDrive option within Outlook


  1. Open the Outlook app and select the file to be saved. The file will open in a file viewer. 
    Note: This is only a viewer. No changes may be made to the file at this step.




  2. Tap on the Share button in the top right corner of the screen. 




  3. Tap on the Share File via... item, and then tap on your OneDrive app.






  4. The OneDrive Upload Document panel will display. Tap on the Files item and navigate to the folder you would like to save the file into.




  5. Tap on the Upload to OneDrive button once you have navigated into the desired folder.
    Note: You cannot create a new folder in OneDrive using this method.




  6. The file will be saved in the folder you specified and is available for use in the OneDrive or Microsoft365 apps.
