By default, folders and files stored in the OneDrive service can only be accessed while connected to a reliable internet connection. This article outlines how to mark a folder in OneDrive for offline use which will allow it to be viewed when there is poor internet connectivity.

Note: Files marked for offline use in the OneDrive app are downloaded in Read Only mode. You cannot edit these files using the Microsoft M365 app without internet connectivity. You can however edit these files as long as there is sufficient internet connectivity.

  1. Open the OneDrive app and navigate to the folders you would like to mark for offline use.

  2. Tap the three dots icon and select Make Available Offline.

  3. The folder or file you specified will now show a small offline mark indicating it was marked for offline and has been downloaded.

  4. You may perform the same steps to un-mark a file or folder for offline use by selecting the Remove From Offline option.
